I'll tell you straight up: this doesn't go very far.

Fortunately, there are some ways for earning free credits without opening your wallet - a unique feature that doubles up as a useful marketing device (e.g. you can post GirlfriendGPT creations on social media and get 10 free credits, or go viral on TikTok and you'll get 500 credits plus a month membership). Smart addition, imo.

The free membership tier includes:

• Limited chatting: You get a small daily message allowance (10 credits per day). It runs out fast. Plan on a quick flirt, not an all‑night pillow talk session. Once you hit the cap, the app nudges you to upgrade. Freebie hunters will hit the wall in a handful of replies.

• SFW only: The NSFW switch stays locked on free. You can tease and roleplay in PG‑13, but explicit requests get blocked until you subscribe. I tried a few different approaches of jailbreaking this feature... no dice!

• Limited NSFW images: Strangely, while any NSFW image creation tied to a character is pay-gated, you can still use the image generator to create random nudes with a basic prompt box, like you would with a conventional porn generator. Each image costs 5 credits.

• Browse the full catalog: You can window‑shop thousands of public bots. Read bios, check tags, and start a short chat with any character you like. It's fine for testing fetish matches and seeing how the personalities feel, but the chats don't last long enough to really get anywhere.

• Text only in chat: Free mode is pure text. No in‑chat pictures. No voice messages. No image‑to‑video clips. Those headline features live behind paid plans.

• Tiny perks you can squeeze: You can sometimes grab a small stash of coins from promos or the Earn tab. It will not replace a sub - unless you manage to go viral on TikTok! - but it can stretch your message quota slightly.

Many of the standout features are Deluxe-only, which is a bit stingy on those who opt for Premium.

I also have to point out that a subscription membership does NOT give you true unlimited use of the platform... in the way that you might typically expect with non-AI products.

The "400 free coins" you get with Premium will disappear fast if you start generating images, audio and videos.

Premium is the starter “real” experience. With this, you get uncensored chat, persistent history, and access to in‑chat image generation plus image‑to‑video.

You can also build and publish your own bots (then flex a creator badge). The included 400 coins will cover roughly 60 to 70 standard images if you spend only on pics. That's decent enough for a steady stream of visuals to go with your role-plays... but remember, not every image hits the mark. It can take a few attempts to hit the jackpot.

Deluxe is what you're looking at if you want a truly 'modern' virtual GF tool. The bigger memory makes roleplay smoother, and the voice addition gives sexting an extra kick. Generation is 20 percent faster. I'm not sure that matters too much with the amount of edging going on, but hey - maybe you're fapping in your lunch break?

The 1,200 monthly coins stretch to about 200 standard images or a mix of images and short video snippets. Video quality is decent, but the experience is strictly contained with pre-defined prompts (you choose between titty bounce, spreading pussy, lotus pose, cowgirl, etc).

I suggest saving your credits for image generation - and only using the video tool if there's a particular output that you want "brought to life" with a brief short.

GirlfriendGPT feels a lot like an open source experiment in virtual GF creation, except... it's an experiment with some wallet-rinsing capitalism built into the core.

The free version is enough to poke around and have a short flirt, but it’s heavily restricted. It’s great to see what characters are available and how the basic AI responds, but if you want anything beyond a few minutes of tame chat, you’ll be nudged toward upgrading.

That said, the catalog of community creations is so vast and fleshed out that you could just borrow characters off-the-shelf for weeks without ever having to create your own.

But you'd be missing part of the fun.

GFGPT has a robust creation suite with full prompting instead of the primitive trait selection (hair color, bust size, etc) found elsewhere.

It's fun to create new girlfriends (or waifus) and see them come to life in the flesh. As far as sandbox tools go, the options here are incredible - restricted only by a 2500 token limit when describing the character.

You can get pretty damn creative. Then choose whether to keep your creations for private use, or share them with the community and become a gooning hero among peers.
