AI companions✳ GUY’S PICK
Soulkyn
Uncensored AI companions with group chat, voice and a deep GF creator
What is Soulkyn?
Most AI girlfriend sites are a chat window with an image button bolted on. Soulkyn is a whole lot more ambitious: this is a sprawling toolkit with an active community.
I signed up, worked through the UK age check (sadly now a reality!), then burned through the free trial with a maid character called Janine. I came away pretty impressed.
Chat: Gwem vs GLM 5.2
Soulkyn's text chat is one of the major draws, and it currently runs on two models. Standard chats, including the free trial and Premium, use Gwem, which Soulkyn describes as its fast in-house model.
Deluxe and Deluxe Plus move you onto GLM 5.2 automatically.
Soulkyn makes some pretty big claims here: it says GLM 5.2 is a 753B+ parameter model running on its own GPU clusters, that it benches "between Opus-class and the very top frontier assistants" for roleplay, and that self-hosting is why Deluxe chat has no caps or cooldowns.
I don't want to dwell too much on specific models, because chances are - they'll be several months behind by the time you read this - but it's rare for an AI girlfriend app to be anywhere near the frontier.
What I can judge is the Gwem output from my initial session. It was actually pretty good. Replies started streaming in 3 to 6 seconds and finished in 6 to 11, which feels snappy. Long enough to feel like there's somebody behind a keyboard, not so long that I feel like I'm getting screwed out of priority tokens.
The prose is in classic roleplay style, with actions in asterisks and dialogue in between, and you'll likely know straight up whether this is going to "cut it" for you.

We traded messages back and forth and it was clear that the AI follows instructions well.
When I asked for a short answer I got one line ("A hot bath, a glass of that white wine… and someone skilled waiting on your every need"), when I asked to say hi in French in one sentence I got exactly that, and 12 times 12 came back as "Cent quarante-quatre, that's 144, monsieur", correct and in character.
The model held scene continuity too, which is always a primary concern... especially as the page begins to scroll...
It's not flawless. My virtual boo leaned on the same notebook gag twice in a few messages, the kind of repetition that can snowball in long threads. Every reply carries the same asterisk-action framing too, so if you prefer plain dialogue... you'll have to say as much (and hope for the best). I had mixed results with my forays into dirty chat...
Memory and context
Soulkyn uses two systems over every thread. Per-message recall searches the whole thread each turn and pulls back the most relevant past moments, and then you've got these rolling summaries which condense the conversation as it goes (seems to be after around 50 messages).
On top of that you get forced memories: a text box for capturing anything that you want to be factored into every reply. Best to keep this short.
Character creator
Want to build your own AI girlfriend?
The creation page offers five routes that all end in the same editor: a manual builder, Create with AI from a plain-text description, Spin the Wheel (a gacha pull), Breed (combine two Kyns into a third with mutations) and Import, either from another service or from an image.
The manual wizard runs four steps covering identity, appearance, personality, then name and advanced settings, and it's pretty strict with what it wants: my first attempt was blocked until I gave it at least three identity traits.
Every edit creates a new version with unlimited history and rollback, which I haven't really seen done this cleanly elsewhere. Kyns also carry an S/T/M/E/X content rating with 0 to 10 scores for things like sexual content and dark themes, plus a level and XP counter. On free you only get one custom and one AI-created character, and the AI-assisted, gacha, breeding and image-import routes are all Premium features behind the paywall.
Images
Soulkyn is not just a wall of text.
The image generation has seven models split between two families. I believe the SD family (SD Anime Original, Anime Alpha and Anime Hyper) is Stable Diffusion based. The other natural-language family (SK-Alpha, ZIT Sk-All, Sk-Photo and Sk-Real) takes plain sentences and swaps most of those dials for a Force Style toggle (with the familiar leading choice off Realistic vs Anime that we've seen repeated pretty much everywhere.)
SD models take 550 characters of prompt, up to three LoRAs and batches of 2, 4 or 6. Natural-language models take 1,400 characters, up to four LoRAs and batches of 1, 2 or 4. There are 63 LoRAs in 23 categories, face reference on the natural-language models for keeping a character consistent, img2img from a Soulkyn image link on the ZIT models (not SK-Alpha), and a bunch of saveable presets.
The output is impressive, and it's getting better with every new model release.
I was taken aback by natural skin with visible freckles, convincing green eyes, clean long hair and plausible office lighting - but more impressively, her face stayed recognisable across six different shots, outfits and rooms, which suggests the face consistency tools are finally beginning to stick without the classic drift between iterations.
The weaknesses are kinda familiar: a flat, slightly overexposed indoor look, exaggerated proportions as the default house style, and hands mostly kept out of frame.... wise but sensible!. Every image carries a small soulkyn.com watermark.
The anime side is more mixed. A neon office gallery kept the character's outfit, hair and lanyard consistent across six images, but the background signage was the usual AI gibberish text, and the poses repeated heavily. A fantasy RPG set had atmospheric candlelit halls with crowds of background figures, though those crowds turned soft and smeared up close.
Explore thumbnails were polished and colourful, with a sharp, cel-shaded look on the anime side and heavy airbrushed skin on the semi-realistic ones. Overall I would put the best realistic work near the top of the companion-site pack, and the anime work as decent... but nothing spectacular.
Features & Plans
Soulkyn's free trial gives you 15 chat messages per 31 days, plus a 2 image quota, 3 voice messages, one custom character and one AI-created character.
That's enough to get a decent feel for the product, without being so generous that you can use it regularly without a paid subscription.
There is no video that I could find on the free tier. I used around 14 messages chatting with Janine, and after that the whole site locked behind a paywall, not just the chat... so for sure, treat the trial as a single taster session rather than an ongoing free plan.
Getting in takes more effort than most rivals. You verify your email with a code, and in the UK you also have to pass a third-party ID or face age check before you can chat. Thankfully it was just a camera-based age estimate... done within about 10 seconds.
Email addresses with a + alias were rejected when I tried, and Soulkyn says it will permanently ban anyone who opens multiple accounts to farm trials.... so you only get one shot before deciding if you want in!
I'll credit Soulkyn by saying that they do give you a fair look at the core chat product.
Free chats run on the standard model, and in my session replies started in 3 to 6 seconds and finished in 6 to 11. The writing was vivid, followed length instructions and remembered my (crappy) banter later in the chat.
Part of the appeal is undoubtedly sifting through community creations. You can browse the Explore library, choose any number of community scenarios and galleries - or walk through the full four-step character creator.
Elsewhere, the truly advanced features are behind the paywall. Group chat, GLM 5.2, unlimited images and video are all on paid plans, and an upsell modal appeared as soon as I opened a chat. A two image quota is barely enough to judge the generator, though what I churned out was serviceable enough.
Compared with Candy AI and Kupid (5 messages) or GirlfriendGPT (10 PG messages), 15 messages is a little more generous. It's still far tighter than Promptchan's 25 messages every three hours or Lovescape's open text chat. The limit will also change the way you chat, forcing you to think carefully before sending a dumb credit-spooging reply: "Oh yea?"
Soulkyn has three paid plans, and from where I'm browsing, they were all priced in euros.
Paying quarterly knocks off 10% and paying yearly knocks off 20%.
There are no refunds - so best start with the lowest tier if you haven't yet tried the actual premium features.
Here's what you get:
Premium, €24.99 a month (about $28): unlimited messages on the standard Gwem model, a 300 image quota (up to 1,800 images in the generator, since one quota equals six generator images or one in-chat image), 300 voice messages, unlimited Kyns, uncensored galleries and 50 Souls each day you log in. This also comes with dynamic stats, narrator mode and the AI-assisted creation routes. All in, pretty good value.
Deluxe, €49.99 a month (about $56): everything in Premium plus GLM 5.2 chat, unlimited image generation, unlimited in-chat images, unlimited voice, group chat with up to 8 Kyns, linking up to 4 public Kyns and 100 daily Souls.
Deluxe Plus, €99.99 a month (about $112): everything in Deluxe plus 150 daily Souls, a 50 video quota at all qualities, 300 AI-assisted image edits, priority video and edit queues, Backer status, early feature access and the SK-Test image model.
Souls are the credit currency, but this is not a PAYG service. You can only get them with a plan.
As a rough marker, expect to pay:
10 Souls per message
20 per image,
20 per TTS clip
60 to unlock an image in chat
45 per image edit
200 per video.
300 Souls per comic page (a brand new feature - niche but kinda cool)
Just like many platforms in this space, Soulkyn wants you to log in regularly - and will reward you for doing so.
If you log in every single day, Premium yields about 1,500 Souls a month (50 x 30), Deluxe about 3,000 and Deluxe Plus about 4,500.
Treating the whole subscription price as the cost, that works out to roughly €0.017 per Soul on Premium and Deluxe, and about €0.022 on Deluxe Plus. In practice 1,500 Souls is about seven videos, and 4,500 is about 22.
I would say that Premium is a decent deal if you mostly want unlimited chat and a big image allowance... but it skips the two best features, GLM 5.2 and group chat.
Deluxe is the plan that makes Soulkyn worth it, and it is where I would point most people.
Deluxe Plus is hard to justify unless you want video regularly...
Is Soulkyn Any Good?
The Guy's Verdict
Soulkyn is one of the most ambitious AI companion platforms I've played around with so far.
The chat on its standard model is already good - damn good: it's fast, vivid, in character and obedient to instructions, with memory that clung on to small details even when they came much further back in the chat.
The realistic images in its galleries are among the better ones in the genre, with natural skin, steady faces across a set and real controls behind them, from LoRAs and CFG to face reference.
Then it piles on group scenes with a director, RPG game masters, DLL and WRL mods, image-to-video with sound, songs, novels, comics and a card game. The brand new comic book pages are just one example of how Soulkyn continues to lead the way in this space... and it has to keep evolving, because the competition is brutal.
Who does it best suit?
I would recommend Soulkyn to roleplay nerds, world builders and anyone who wants to tinker with lewd characters, mods and multi-character scenes. It's not a "set and forget" subscription, since you need to be logging in regularly to keep your Souls topped up.
If you're just looking for a quick, simple AI girlfriend... it might be a tad excessive. Soulkyn is pitched at roleplay and fantasy scenarios rather than generic dirty talk.
Still, these girls are certainly not prudes!
